Ava, This Miraculous Chuubo's Character
May. 27th, 2021 03:46 amI really like Chuubo's Marvelous Wish-Granting Engine and, even though I've currently got a character I'm playing, making characters in such a delightful system is, itself, pretty enjoyable. So, recently, I made this girl - Ava - who is almost certainly a reaction to the kind of the game I'm in; my character right now, Maya, is miserable and depressed and hates herself and is really just going through a pretty awful time being a teenager.
Ava is the opposite. She's happy and wholesome and forever falling in love. Her life is full of wonder and discovery and an endless cycle of excitement and compassion.
Anyway, I'd like to present her here in three parts, just for the joy of sharing.

This is a Chuubo's character sheet format I put together in Google Docs, and use with all my characters with slight variations in font and color.
So, Ava is a miraculous character built by default character creation rules. She has three Arcs of Reality Syndrome (using Jenna's slight update of the Arc, which changed it from Sickly Knight to Sickly Aspect). I wrote my own version of wishing hax for her Reality Syndrome, which is a bit more focused than the eponymous Chuubo, below.
The Arc she's currently on is a mundane Aspect Arc where she's trying to become a really awesome romantic partner. Even though her Lurid But Ultimately Constructive Romance skill means that having romance with her is going to be great, she wants to be even better! The three presented Quests are her Aspect 1, 2, and 3 Arc Quests (which I wouldn't normally put on a character sheet altogether) which are about her becoming a better romantic partner by realizing she was beautiful all along.
Things like empathy and communication would be way more important, but that's totally covered under Lurid But Ultimately Constructive Romance, because your romance isn't going to be very constructive without those things.
Maybe her next one after this would be about her learning to be suave and confident.
Here's page 2, with her Reality Syndrome powers:

And here's page 3, with a little backstory and the write-ups for her Superior Skills.

So, ultimately, the story you tell by playing Ava is that of a girl who is eternally trapped in an endless cycle of making cool friends, falling in love, having great romances, and helping girls with their problems, of which she can never escape, and she's completely unaware of - and absolutely fucking stoked about - that.
